Jimi Hendrix tops Rolling Stone‘s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time, as chosen by a panel of experts. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, and Jeff Beck round out the top five.

“His playing was effortless,” writes Tom Morello of Hendrix. “There’s not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he’s working hard at it – it feels like it’s all flowing through him.” Other top guitarists who contributed include Keith Richards on Chuck Berry, Carlos Santana on Jerry Garcia, and Tom Petty on George Harrison.
