There is always one jaw-dropping elimination on American Idol and this year it was Thursday night when rocker James Durbin was sent packing.
Durbin was visibly beat up after the decision, but like the volumes of other contestants before him, he’s in for a long career if history follows its course.
People like Chris Daughtry (who was also booted from the top four in season five), or Tamyra Gray (also out of the top four during season one) and Latoya London (number four eliminated contestant from season three) have all managed to survive the boot.
Besides, Durbin can probably relax – Rockers do well on Idol – just ask Daughtry or season eight’s runner up Adam Lambert, who both had amazing chops and are both enjoying enormous success post Idol.
The top three contestants heading into the finals are Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.
