Beverly McClellan, Bald, Bold and Rockin’ “The Voice”

If there were a contestant that embodied the soul of The Voice (Tuesdays, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, NBC) it would have to be Beverly McClellan.

McClellan, who is 41, sports a baldhead, biker-wear, is tatted up – and nothing like the type of singers being groomed for stardom. But, McClellan can rock the house and does with passion.

And tonight, she tells EntertainmentHeartbeat.com, the competition will be even more intense.

“Seriously, you’re not even ready for what’s going to happen tonight,” McClellan teases. “It’s going to be off the chain. You think I maybe did OK in the first round and I’m so happy for the floodgate of response from everyone, tonight is going to just cap that.”

McClellan is aware she’s not a traditional looking rocker, but she plans to stay true to herself while taking direction from her powerhouse coach and superstar Christina Aguilera.

“I literally have been one of those performers that you would see out at a local club forever just pounding the pavement doing what I have to do…selling CD and singing for tips,” she says. “I’m going to stay true to my roots as far as who I am and what got me here. I don’t think for a minute that [Christina] wants to turn me into a pop singer. She’s been in this business for quite some time and not everybody fits into the genre that she does just like not everybody fits into the genre of (rocker) Rob Zombie. She’s definitely knowledgeable and definitely sending me in the right direction and I feel really good about having her as my coach. I’m honored. I’m blessed.”

McClellan’s transformation will probably not include growing out her hair, though she confesses it’s not completely out of the question if it gives her an edge in the competition.

“I don’t know,” she admits. “This has been a 15-year dome I’ve rocked here. That would kind of be like asking me to put a dress on. I don’t think that would happen.”

Beverly can sing. I hope she wins.
My wife shaves her head and wears the bald look as well, and my wife looks sensational wearing that style. Unlike Beverly though, my wife doesn’t have tattoos and my wife likes to dress feminine and wear sexy dresses and long dangle earrings with her bald look.
My wife usually wears headscarves or wigs at work, but sometimes she gets dolled up sexy and wears her bald look when we got out.
My daughters like it that they have a cool fashionable bald mom.
I love the bald look on a beautiful lady.

      “She’s bald, Jerry!”
      “Bald?”
      “Bald!”
Why would anyone want to do this? I guess to be as “transgressive” as possible. How can I look any more repellent to men..and be any less sexually attractive? I’ll go bald! I’ll avoid the male gaze at all costs!! What’s next? Cutting off your nose? Of course I have complete sympathy to people, especially women, who lose their hair due to chemotherapy but this is just “look at how non-traditional and transgressive I can be” just like the ridiculously tatted and coiffed (or non-coiffed I guess) women I have to encounter summertime in Brooklyn. Future job growth industry?: Tatt removal! I don’t watch these dreadful singing contests anyway…horrible singing styles, just horrible caterwauling.
